I had a near death experience on July 11,1997. I will try to describe what actually happened.

I was suffering from what I thought was bronchitis. I was at home in the shower and was having a very difficult time breathing. I got out of the shower and started to get dressed. I was still having a problem breathing. I tried to use the inhaler I had and I did and it did nothing. I was upstairs in the shower and went downstairs and sat down. I tried to see if the inhaler would help and by then it was clear the inhaler was not going to help me.

I got on the phone and called for an ambulance - I tried to anyway. From the shower to getting downstairs was about 7 or 8 minutes and by then, I could not talk. My tongue was starting to swell in my throat and my throat was starting to swell. I tried to answer the medic on the phone and could not speak at all. I did not hang up though. Even though I could not speak, the ambulance has caller ID and I was just hoping they would come out automatically. I was told later they did.

I passed out on the couch. I cannot remember the time or the length of time I was unconscious but I was choking to death. I can remember that I could see myself coming out of nowhere from the top of the stairs. I was slowly moving down the stairs and was coming back at myself. The entire time I was experiencing the out-of-body experience, I was going in slow-motion.

The next thing I remember was coming to the ER of the hospital. My doctor was treating me for bronchitis but I actually was developing a large tumor in my throat.

By the evening of 7/11/1997, I was diagnosed with larynx cancer. I was given a total laryngectomy two days later.

I seen myself coming down the stairs in slow motion and everything in this vision was in slow motion. I cannot recall any other out of body experiences after that.

I think about it even now and I feel so frightened. Was I really seeing myself like that or was it a figment of my imagination?

My girlfriend and I were discussing that this evening and I just wanted to know if anyone else ever seen anything like this. Let me know please.
