I had an incredible out-of-body experience as a result of a near fatal car accident many years ago. I was involved in a very serious car accident and I should have died. A yellow hacker NY taxi cab, hit my Ford Pinto from the drivers side while I was driving this car. It is a known fact that side impact car crashes are almost always fatal. In fact, the car industry is thinking of installing side air bags shortly.

I vividly remember the strong impact while my body was thrown to the passengers side of the car. The next thing I remember was being outside of my body.

I was standing on the street corner and saw my car completely totaled. I was in much disbelief as I recently bought this new car and I was very upset that my car was a wreck. The next thing I did was go back to my car and then back to the corner. I did this for a very long time. I knew that something wasn't right and I was in a strange and new environment. I felt exactly the way I did when I was inside of my body. There was no difference. In fact, I was not even aware that I had a body. I was the same person inside and outside of my body. What happened next was absolutely incredible.

I remember an angel appearing who had the most beautiful eyes filled with sparkling light. The angel was trying to push me back into my body and inside the car. I put up a pretty big fight with him as I really didn't want to go back into the car and my body. After a long struggle I remember being back inside the car on the drivers side. I looked up at my angel and knew that he was from a different world. He had the most loving presence. I actually placed both my hands on his face just to feel him and I asked him to help me.

The next thing I remember was waking up in the hospital emergency room. I only needed a few stitches above my eye and my left leg was very slightly injured.

It was Thanksgiving day and I walked out of the hospital with a slight limp. I certainly had so much to be thankful for. I know that it was not my time to pass over. This happened 31 years ago.

I must say that when I put up a fight with my angel, I do remember feeling pain from my left leg while I was outside of my body. Is that possible? Can one who has left their body feel physical pain? I truly believe that I did. In love and light.

Webmaster response: Yes, it is possible. It is not uncommon for a person outside of their body during a NDE to suddenly feel a tremendous shock which sends them immediately back into their body. They later learn that the shock came from the resuscitation electric paddles doctors use to restart a heart. This can occur many other ways, such as from a doctor pounding on a man's chest which can be felt in spirit and which sends the man back to his body. I have read enough NDEs to conclude that everyone leaves their body but still attached to it by a "silver cord". If this silver cord is broken during the NDE, then permanent death occurs and it is impossible to return to the body. It is also my opinion that the reason the vast majority of NDErs do not see themselves attached to their physical body by a silver cord is because this aspect of the spirit realm is not widely known. It also appears that in the spirit realm, a person generally can see only what they are willing to believe. This phenomenon appears in hellish NDEs where a Being of Light is seen by an experiencer but nobody else can see the light for various reason. Also, there is the phenomenon of "phantom pain". Some people who have a limb amputated will feel the sensation that their limb is still there.
