1. Introduction to the Being of Light
One of the most striking and commonly reported elements of NDEs is the encounter with a “Being of Light,” a figure or presence that exudes overwhelming love, peace, and wisdom. This entity’s identity varies widely across accounts, reflecting the experiencer’s cultural, religious, or personal framework, and studies of NDEs have documented interpretations ranging from God and Jesus to angels, the Higher Self, or even figures like Yama from Hinduism.
The Being of Light typically appears during a phase of the NDE where the individual leaves their physical body, often after passing through a tunnel or Void. Descriptions consistently emphasize its radiant, luminous quality – sometimes a brilliant white or golden light that doesn’t hurt the eyes – and an indescribable sense of unconditional love and acceptance. People report telepathic communication with this being, who may offer a life review, impart spiritual insights, or guide them toward a decision about returning to life. The emotional impact is profound; many NDErs say it’s the most loving presence they’ve ever encountered, transcending anything in their earthly experience.
In research, such as that compiled by Dr. Raymond Moody in his seminal 1975 book Life After Life, the Being of Light emerges as a cross-cultural phenomenon, though its perceived identity shifts. For Christians, it’s frequently interpreted as Jesus or God, aligning with biblical imagery of divine light (e.g., “I am the light of the world” from John 8:12). In a study by the International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS), many Western experiencers described a figure matching their preconceived notions of a deity or savior. Yet, in non-Christian contexts, the being takes on different forms. Hindu experiencers might identify it as Yama, the god of death, or another deity like Krishna, while others with no religious affiliation might call it a manifestation of their Higher Self – a concept rooted in New Age or mystical traditions – or simply a guide.
This variability has sparked debate among researchers. Some, like Dr. Kenneth Ring, suggest the Being of Light is a universal archetype, shaped by the mind to fit familiar symbols, pointing to the consistency of its qualities (love, knowledge, non-judgment) across cultures. Others, including cardiologist Pim van Lommel in his book Consciousness Beyond Life, propose it could reflect an objective encounter with a transcendent reality, filtered through subjective belief systems. Skeptics, meanwhile, argue it’s a neurological artifact – perhaps the brain’s response to oxygen deprivation or a surge of endorphins – though this doesn’t fully explain why the experience often leads to lasting life changes, like reduced fear of death or increased altruism.
Specific examples highlight the diversity. In one well-documented case, a woman raised Catholic described meeting Jesus during her NDE after a car accident, complete with a life review where she felt his compassion for her mistakes. Contrastingly, a Buddhist monk’s NDE, reported in a 2014 study, involved a luminous figure he identified as a bodhisattva, guiding him back to his body to continue his path toward enlightenment. In India, a study by Satwant Pasricha found some experiencers encountering Yama, who in Hindu tradition judges the dead, though the tone was less punitive than scriptural depictions might suggest.
What ties these accounts together is less the being’s identity and more its effect: a sense of unity, purpose, and peace that often reshapes the experiencer’s worldview. Whether seen as God, an angel, or a projection of consciousness, the Being of Light remains a cornerstone of NDE narratives, raising questions about the nature of life, death, and what lies beyond that science and spirituality continue to explore.
Some of the following information comes from Dr. Jeffrey and Jody Long’s website NDERF.org. Their NDE research findings show that, of the 302 people who responded to their survey, 29% (88) saw familiar beings and 25.8% (78) saw unfamiliar beings. Of the 166 people who saw beings, 53% saw familiar beings, while 47% saw unfamiliar beings. The highest percentage of familiar beings seen were blood relatives (25.9%), followed by religious figures (22.9%). (Dr. Jeffrey and Jody Long)
2. The Being of Light of Transformation
This section explores the many faces of the Being of Light – how it adapts, transforms, and communicates with souls according to their unique perspectives. Drawing from a wide range of NDEs and expert commentary, it illustrates how this Light is not bound by dogma or singular identity, but instead reflects the soul’s deepest yearnings, revealing a transcendent presence that meets each person exactly where they are.
Kevin Williams says the following about the Being(s) of Light: “There are many “Beings” of Light appearing in NDEs. The Bible and NDEs show that God is light (1 John 1:5). Souls in the higher spirit realms emanate this light that is God. A “Being of Light” in NDEs can be literally anyone: Jesus, Buddha, the Hindu god of death, an angel, or even a deceased loved one for example. It usually depends on the person’s religious and cultural background. (Kevin Williams)
The Being of Light transforms into an Entity according to the NDEr’s religious expectations. NDE researcher Todd Murphy states: “Several studies have indicated that the phenomenologies of NDEs are culture-bound. The observation that the ‘Being of Light’ can appear differently according to a person’s expectations of what God will be like supports the notion that a religion also plays a role.” (Todd Murphy)
One particular NDEr, Natacha P. realized that the Being of Light could not appear in its true form and full goodness, but offered her the choice of what form it would take.
The identity of the Being of Light is a function of the NDEr’s religious background. Dr. Raymond Moody’s states: “The identification of the Being varies from individual to individual and seems to be largely a function of the religious background, training, or beliefs of the person involved. Thus, most of those who are Christians in training or belief identify the light as Christ and sometimes draw Biblical parallels in support of their interpretation. A Jewish man and woman identified the light as an ‘angel.'” (Dr. Raymond Moody)
The Being of Light can transform into various personalities. In 1971, May Eulitt shared a Group NDE with her cousin, James, and his best friend, Rashad, who was from India. The three of them were helping each other climb over a metal gate in a field when they were all struck by lightning resulting in a Group NDE. Their NDE was identical except for several important differences. The three of them found themselves in an otherworldly valley which May Eulitt saw as “Heaven”. James saw the valley as the “Gulf of Souls’; and Rashad saw the valley as ‘Nirvana”. They could also experience each others NDE as it was happening. Then they encountered a Being of Light whom May Eulitt perceived as an angel resembling a Viking Valkyrie. James perceived the Being as his late father who was a Naval officer; and Rashad perceived the Being as Buddha. The three of them received different messages from the Being of Light. Rashad was told his life was over and he would remain in the light. May Eulitt and James both returned to life after receiving profound insights of the afterlife. Their Group NDE was documented in Dr. Stephen Hoyer’s book, “Fireweaver: The Story of a Life, a Near-Death, and Beyond.” (May Eulitt)
The Being of Light can transform into any personality that the NDEr wants to be. In her 2023 book, “Nine Days of Eternity,” Anke Evertz, a German woman, shares the wisdom she gained from the Being of Light during her NDE. In September 2009, Evertz was tending to her fireplace when her clothing caught fire. Unable to extinguish the fire, she suffered severe burns and was eventually placed in an induced coma for nine days. It was during this period that she had an NDE and encountered the Being of Light. When Evertz asked, “Who are you?” the response was both simple and profound: “I can be anything you want me to be.” The Being of Light then transformed into various entities such as Jesus, Buddha, a Native American chief, and a bear. The Being showed her the interconnectedness of all things. She traveled into the cellular level of her body, witnessed past lives unfolding simultaneously, and grasped the purpose of human existence – to embody and express the boundless creative energy within (Anke Evertz).
The Being of Light told Natacha P. that it could transform into any personality she wanted: Natacha P. asked the Being of Light who it was. She experienced the Being as full of love with an overwhelming understanding. She knew that the Being knew everything about her. It responded telepathically: “I will be what you want me to be.” Natacha realized that the Being could not appear in its true form and full goodness, but offered her the choice of what form it would take. (Natacha P.)
Here is another example of the Being of Light transforming into whatever personality the NDEr wants it to be: Sandi T. encountered a radiant Being of Light and asked what it was. The Being gently replied that she could call it whatever felt right – names like “angel,” “guide,” or “God” were common but merely reflected personal beliefs. Sandi sensed these labels fell short, and the Being agreed, explaining that such terms, though meaningful, were limited by human understanding. When she questioned why she couldn’t define the Being more precisely, the Being said she lacked the usual assumptions that might obscure truth. Though full comprehension was beyond her human grasp, she instinctively knew the Being was good – and for now, that was enough. (Sandi T.)
The identity of the Being of Light is a feedback of our own religious background according to Mellen-Thomas Benedict: “The Being of Light seen in NDEs can change into different figures, such as Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, mandalas, archetypal images and signs. Our beliefs shape the kind of feedback we get from this Being. If we were a Buddhist or Catholic or Fundamentalist, we would get a feedback loop of our own beliefs.” (Mellen-Thomas Benedict)
The identity of the Being of Light doesn’t matter. Mellen-Thomas Benedict states, “The name of the Light Being does not matter. Only the recognition of absolute love and truth is important.” (Mellen-Thomas Benedict)
Melanie learned that the identity of the Being of Light doesn’t matter: “I believe that there is one God – whom is that light of love. I believe that the light could be the Christian God, the Muslim God, the Hindu God, the Jewish God, the Buddhist God and I believe that does not matter.” (Melanie)
The identity of the Being of Light generally conforms to the NDEr’s religious background. According to NDEr P.M.H. Atwater, “The Beings of Light found in NDEs usually conform to the predominant religion the person was exposed to, but not always. Jesus has appeared in near-death scenarios of Jewish people, for instance; a Muslim man once told me he was met by Buddha.” (P.M.H. Atwater)
The identity of the Being of Light can be God, another spiritual entity, or an energy form which the NDEr can recognize. NDE researcher Dr. David San Filippo states, “The experiencer may encounter a Being of Light reported to be either God, another spiritual deity, or an energy form recognized by non-theists. The encounter with the Being of Light engulfs the experiencer with a sense of unconditional love emanating from the Being.” (Dr. David San Filippo)
The Being of Light can transform from an Orb to a Being of pure light or as energy personified. NDEr Lou Famoso states, “Instantly I recognized a brilliant glowing ball of gold headed my way. It grew larger as it grew nearer and when it reached about the size of a beach ball, just above and in front of me, it radiated brilliantly and transformed into an indescribable Being of pure LIGHT, now levitated right in front of me. It was larger then the tallest person I had ever seen, wider then two of me but so evenly proportioned as to be of Magnificent Stature. It’s features were outlined as if made with a fine ink quill. hair, face, robe, all golden and flowing as would an electric charge perhaps even a nuclear charge. This was energy personified. As its form took on a more solid shape, all that was behind it did as well.” (Lou Famoso)
The Being of Light is an archetypal Being of various religions. NDE archetypal images have been consistent throughout history. NDE researcher Jenny Yates described how the phenomenology of the archetypal Being of Light in world myths and religions shows the archetypal parallels with the Light in the NDE that are consistent across time and cultures. Yates revealed how the phenomenon of the Being of light of the NDE has parallels to: (1) The light of God’s presence reflected in the shining face of Moses on the mountain; (2) The light of the Shekhinah in mystical Judaism; (3) The transfiguration of Christ; (4) The light of Sophia (Wisdom) in Christian Gnosticism; (5) The union of the individual and the universal soul called Atman–Brahman in Hinduism; and (6) The Clear Light of enlightenment in Tibetan Buddhism. (Jenny Yates)
In Teri R.’s NDE, the Being of Light appeared as an old man so that she could be comfortable with it’s energy of love: Teri R. encountered a radiant Being of Light that took the familiar form of an elderly man to offer comfort. Though it appeared human, its true essence was pure light and unconditional love. What impacted her most was the profound, nonjudgmental love she felt. (Teri R.)
Kevin Williams states that the Being of Light can transform into various entities including the NDEr’s Higher Self: “At the end of the tunnel, deceased loved ones or ‘Beings of Light’ often appear. Sometimes, one particular Being of Light is identified either as God, Jesus or other religious figures, an angel, or even their own ‘Higher Self.’ This being induces them into a life review in which their entire life can be instantaneously observed.” (Kevin Williams)
3. The Being of Light as Your Higher Self
In contemporary NDEs, the Being of Light is frequently interpreted as a divine entity, a spiritual guide, or even God. However, an increasingly profound and transformative interpretation is emerging among many experiencers: the realization that the Being of Light is not separate from oneself, but is in fact the Higher Self – the eternal, transcendent essence of one’s own consciousness.
The following explores some of the NDE accounts where individuals come to recognize the Being of Light as their own Higher Self. From visions of planetary grids of interconnected souls to direct realizations of eternal identity, these stories illuminate a transcendent truth echoed across cultures and centuries: that the light we meet in death is the light we carry within.
Recognizing the Being of Light as your Higher Self is the key to obtaining liberation from reincarnation according to The Tibetan Book of the Dead. The most astounding similarity between NDEs and Tibetan Buddhism is the encounter with the Being of Light, or the “Clear Light” as described in The Tibetan Book of the Dead. According to the Tibetan teachings, at the moment of death, the Clear Light dawns in all its splendor before the dying person. Tibetan teachings stress that by recognizing yourself as this Clear Light, you will attain liberation from the cycle of reincarnation. Many near-death experiencers are convinced the Being of Light is their Higher Self. This is certainly in agreement with the Tibetan teachings. (Lingza Chokyi)
“Buddhists believe the ‘Clear White Light’ to be the light from all the enlightened ones which is indistinguishable from true essence of everyone.” (Buddhist Afterlife Beliefs)
Mellen-Thomas Benedict describes the “Higher Self matrix”: “So the Light was showing me the Higher Self matrix… We have a grid around the planet where all the Higher Selves are connected… Then the Light turned into the most beautiful thing that I have ever seen: a mandala of human souls on this planet.” (Mellen-Thomas Benedict)
Lynnclaire Dennis learned in her NDE that she was also a Being of Light: “After learning that I was in essence a Being of Light, I had to come back into this world and reenter a dense, physical body.” (Lynnclaire Dennis)

Francine W. discovered that talking with the Being of Light (Jesus) was like talking with a deeper version of herself. Francine found herself kneeling and face to face with a radiant Being of Light. She perceived the Being as the “Lord of Love” – Christ – and yet, paradoxically, she also recognized that the Being was a deeper version of herself. (Francine W.)
Julio M. saw the Being of Light as himself communicating by thought. (Julio M.)
Mark W. saw the Being of Light as a higher aspect of himself. Mark W. reflected that he hadn’t perceived the Being of Light he encountered as God or Jesus. Instead, the Being appeared so overwhelmingly joyful to reunite with him that he later came to believe it might have been his own soul. The Being radiated such joy that Mark concluded it could only represent a higher or better aspect of himself. (Mark W.)
The Being of Light touched Amjad Ali Jaffri, a Muslim man, causing him to become a Being of Light. (Amjad Ali Jaffri)
During her NDE, Nanci Danison discovered herself to be a Being of Light who has reincarnated hundreds of times. As Nanci gazed at the radiant Lights, five luminous Beings emerged – instantly recognized as beloved soul companions. In their presence, she realized she too was a Being of Light and had returned home. A flood of memories followed – not just from one life, but from countless incarnations, both human and non-human, and from a luminous realm known as the “life between lives.” She understood that only part of a Being of Light enters the human form, while the rest remains in the Light, continuing to evolve. This reunion marked her return to her true, eternal self. (Nanci Danison)
Lou Famoso learned in his NDE that the Being of Light dwells within human beings. “The closer I got to the end of the tunnel, the brighter things got… The Being told me that should I have questions of the heart or mind, he will answer them if I only look within myself, for that is where he will dwell.” (Lou Famoso)
In his NDE, Sam K. discovered himself to be evolving into a Being of Light. “My journey is that I am evolving as a life form from a physical to a Holy Spirit filled Being of Light able to transcend time.” (Sam K.)
In her NDE, Juliet Nightingale discovered herself to be evolving into a Being of Light. “We are souls visiting and experiencing the physical realm in order to grow and evolve into the ultimate light beings that is our true origin and final destiny.” (Juliet Nightingale)
Chantal L. encountered the Being of Light as a higher version of herself: As the radiant Being approached, Chantal felt like she was emerging from amnesia and remembering her true, timeless identity: an ancient, ever-existing self filled with wisdom and compassion. This self had directly experienced life in all forms – even as a flower, animal, or insect – and held within it the complete knowledge of the universe. (Chantal L.)

4. The Being of Light of All Knowledge
The Being of Light radiates not only unconditional love but also infinite knowledge. In such moments, experiencers describe a sudden and overwhelming immersion into omniscience – an intuitive understanding of the deepest truths of existence, time, and the universe itself. This Being appears as the ultimate source of wisdom and insight, responding instantly to every question with clarity that transcends human comprehension.
Some NDErs recount breathtaking encounters with the Being of Light – describing sensations of omnipresence, unbounded awareness, and communion with a consciousness that is both supremely personal and universally expansive. Whether experienced as an orb, a robed figure, or a cosmic presence, this Being of Light is consistently associated with the transmission of ultimate knowledge and truth.
The testimonies featured in this section reveal that the Being of Light is not merely a passive symbol of divinity, but an active transmitter of universal knowledge – illuminating the soul with a flood of timeless understanding. Through these vivid accounts, we glimpse what may be the most transformative dimension of the NDE: the realization that all knowledge, love, and life are ultimately unified in the Light.
Yazmine S. became omnipresent and omniscient during her NDE: “I feel that my awareness was omnipresent during the goldenness, expanding vastly as I neared The Great Presence of Light. I was aware of all that is, was, and ever shall be.” (Yazmine S.)
During her NDE, Carol Vengroff encountered Beings of Light that radiated pure knowledge, offering her answers to the deepest questions of the universe. She was immersed in a state of absolute and flawless light, love, and joy – what she understood to be the God Consciousness. (Carol Vengroff)
Dr. Sandrine B. saw the Being of Light having absolute knowledge and surrounded by lesser human beings of light: Sandrine encountered a radiant white light that filled her with love, peace, and deep understanding. It connected her to a luminous, robed male Being made entirely of light. Though unfamiliar, he evoked a profound sense of belonging beyond anything she had known on Earth. Surrounding him were other human-like figures, also radiant but less brilliant than the central Being. (Dr. Sandrine B.)
Brian Krebs experienced an orb of love and knowledge: “I was there with this orb of glowing love and understanding. It didn’t seem foreign to me. It was not frightening. It was totally assuring and there was no feeling of anything but my awe and the love and knowledge and wisdom this orb projected.” (Brian Krebs)
Dr. Kenneth Ring refers to the Being of Light as a cosmic shaman who gives all knowledge to the NDEr: “While in this realm, the NDEr will receive instantaneously and telepathically the answers to all of his questions from this Being [of Light], this cosmic shaman. Knowledge will simply flood into his soul as the mysteries of life and death are finally and fully illuminated.” (Dr. Kenneth Ring)
Beverly Brodsky experienced the Being of Light having all knowledge and love: “Here, I experienced, in ineffable magnificence, communion with the Light Being. Now, I was filled with not just all knowledge, but also with all love. It was as if the Light were poured in and through me. I was God’s object of adoration; and from His/our love I drew life and joy beyond imagining.” (Beverly Brodsky)
5. The Being of Light of Love
This section gathers and explores a broad spectrum of NDE accounts in which the central theme is love – the kind of love that transcends human limitation, radiates from the Being of Light, and becomes the very essence of the near-death journey. This Being appears as the embodiment of infinite compassion, forgiveness, and joy. Through these firsthand stories, we gain a glimpse into what many call the source of all life: a love that heals, teaches, and ultimately defines who we are.
During her NDE, Elane Durham experienced the Being of Light emanating an intense amount of love and understanding: “As the light got closer to me I realized that it had a personality to it. Love and understanding were emanating from the light. It was the most intense amount of love that you can imagine. It was as though you were in the presence of the one person in your life who had loved you beyond anything, despite what you might have done, and that love was magnified many times.” (Elane Durham)
During his NDE, Brian T. experienced the Being of Light emanating an overwhelming amount of pure love and understanding: Brian was overwhelmed by a profound sense of pure love, deep understanding, and limitless compassion radiating from the Being of Light. This was the most powerful part of his experience – beyond words. The radiant Being knew him completely and embraced him with unconditional love. (Brian T.)
The Being of Light enveloped Juliet Nightingale with unconditional love: “I became aware of a ‘Being of Light’ enveloping me… I was totally and completely enveloped in divine Love. It was unconditional love in the truest sense of the word. I was in constant communion with this Light and always aware of its loving presence with me at all times.” (Juliet Nightingale)
The Being of Light hugged Sherry Gideons with such a powerful love it was like a mother with a child: “Then there was, off to my left, the source of all power. A powerful Being of Light was in front of me. As I gazed into its essence, I could see all shades of color as if a rainbow had exploded. I thought I was hugged with such a powerful source of love. Like a child held in its mother’s arms.” (Sherry Gideons)
Angie Fenimore attempted suicide and met a divine Being of Light who radiated perfect love and goodness: “I knew with complete certainty that I was in the presence of God. He was a Being of Light, not just radiating light or illuminated from within, but he almost seemed to be made of the light. It was a light that had substance and dimension, the most beautiful, glorious substance that I have ever beheld. All beauty, all love, all goodness were contained in the light that poured forth from this Being. But there is nothing that we are even capable of imagining that comes close to the magnitude of perfect love that this Being poured into me.” (Angie Fenimore)
An anonymous NDEr attempted suicide and met a Being of Light radiating great love who informed him that suicide is not a valid option: The Being, in a firm, fatherly voice, said, “Your life is not to do with as you please. Did you create yourself, give yourself life? No. Neither can you choose death.” (Suicide NDE)
Katie B. met a Being of increasing Light of endless joy and love: Katie saw a distant pinpoint of light and moved swiftly toward it. Along the way, she encountered a radiant Being of Light radiating peace, joy, and compassion. At first clothed in white, the Being grew more luminous as they ascended, until its brilliance became so intense that its face was no longer visible. (Katie B.)
Sarah L.G. also met a Being of increasing Light of intense joy and love: The Being of Light released Sarah’s hand and moved through a tunnel, merging with an increasingly radiant light that radiated warmth, joy, relief, happiness, and overwhelming love. (Sarah L.G.)

She felt deep compassion for the Earth and its creatures, along with a powerful awareness of humanity’s shared spiritual journey and interconnectedness. (Chamisa H.)
D. W. experienced the Being of Light emanating love like the sun shines light: D.W. sensed that the Being of Light was fully self-aware, radiating a powerful presence and energy that felt like standing beneath the sun – only instead of heat, it emanated pure, unconditional love. Though unlike anyone D.W. had ever known, the Being’s essence was unmistakably one of love alone. (D. W.)
During his NDE, Rudi Rudenski experienced the Being of Light as the sum of all love: During his NDE, Rudi encountered a presence resembling Jesus and another radiant Being often called “God,” though that name felt inadequate. This Being embodied overwhelming kindness, compassion, beauty, and joyful laughter – qualities that together formed the essence of pure Love, described as the very sum of all love. (Rudi Rudenski)

Linda G. experienced God as a familiar Being of Light shining pure love and light: Linda described meeting a divine presence she recognized as God – an intensely radiant light, more brilliant than anything she’d seen. Though overwhelming, it felt familiar. She realized she’d encountered this Being before, once appearing in a more human-like, eight-foot-tall form made entirely of love and light, yet without distinct features. (Linda G.)
During her NDE, Lana learned from the Being of Light that love is most important: The Being of Light told Lana that life’s essence was love – expressed through feelings, actions, words, and thoughts. Anything lacking love, it revealed, was ultimately meaningless or undone. (Lana)
During Kerry Kirk’s NDE, she witnessed a Being of Light of complete and total love battle with forces of darkness: “Then I had a sense of blackness come over me. Like a dark damp cloud. I was terrified. I have never been so scared. In my fear I said, ‘Jesus.’ Immediately I witnessed a fight. It seemed there was a battle between a Being in white light and this blackness. Immediately following, the light overtook the darkness. I found myself on my face in worship in front of this Being of Light. I felt a warmth, the most intense love filled me. It was an energy that penetrated every fiber of my being. I had never felt such a complete and total love.” (Kerry Kirk)
Elizabeth discovered that her love for the Being of Light was unlike anyone else: “It was then that I noticed an incredible, brilliant, white light at the end of this line. I write ‘incredible’ because I notice the light being so intensely bright and dynamic, yet it did not hurt the eyes to look directly into it. Although I did not understand why, I found the light to be amazing, and it seemed to fill me with joy and warmth… The love and respect I had for this being was unlike anyone I had ever known.” (Elizabeth)
The Being of Light told Steve L., “You are love.”: While immersed in the light, Steve was approached by a radiant Being of Light who asked a profound question not once, but four times: “Who are you?” Struggling with the enormity of the inquiry, Steve gave three incorrect answers. 6. The Being of Light as God
For many experiencers, the Being of Light is not merely a spiritual guide or benevolent force – it is recognized as God itself. Reports from NDErs across cultures and belief systems consistently describe this Being as the embodiment of unconditional love, divine wisdom, and a presence so overwhelming in compassion that human language falls short of capturing its essence. This section explores these deeply personal accounts, offering insight into how the Being of Light is perceived not just as a messenger or intermediary, but as the very essence of God itself.
Concerning the Being of Light, Kevin Williams states, “Many NDErs experience an overwhelming sense of love that transcends human understanding. They often report meeting a ‘Being of Light’ radiating unconditional love and light that is God. This love is described not just as feeling loved but as an intrinsic part of the entity’s nature, suggesting that at the core, unconditional love is God.” (Kevin Williams)
Norman Paulsen learned the following from his NDE: “There is no doctrine and no belief to pursue other than knowing that the Being of Light is God.” (Norman Paulsen)
Bobby R. remembers standing near God – the Being of Light: Nearby stood a Being of Light – interpreted as God. Despite its immense presence, it emanated nothing but warmth and unconditional love. (Bobby R.)
Peter N. views the Being of Light to be more than “God”: Peter described encountering a Being of Light he identified as “God,” though he felt the term was too limited. To avoid its historical baggage, he preferred to call the presence simply “It.” (Peter N.)
Sheila E.P. encountered the Being of Light as some form of God: Sheila described encountering a mystical, otherworldly presence that communicated telepathically. This loving Being of Light gently guided her through key life decisions and was, to her, a clear manifestation of God. (Sheila E.P.)
Glenda H. describes the Being of Light as God: Glenda encountered a single Being of Light, instantly recognizing it as the God of her personal understanding. (Glenda H.)

NDE researcher Dr. William J. Serdahely states the following about the Being of Light: “NDErs may encounter a light, sometimes described as a Being of Light, as they travel through the tunnel and beyond. This light is said to be unconditionally and overwhelmingly loving and forgiving. Many NDErs identify the brilliant light of love as God or Jesus.” (Dr. William J. Serdahely)

7. The Being of Light as Jesus
For many experiencers, particularly those from Christian backgrounds, the Being of Light is instantly recognized as Jesus Christ. In NDE accounts, Jesus as the Being of Light is often described as exuding a love far beyond human comprehension – an infinite embrace of compassion and understanding. Guenter Wagner, Howard Storm, David Oakford, and others speak of a deeply personal and transformative communion with this Light. Their testimonies echo the words of Dr. Raymond Moody, who noted that for many Christians, the light is unmistakably identified as Christ.
Kevin Williams says the following about the Being of Light: “There are many ‘Beings of Light’ appearing in NDEs. The Bible declares that God is light (1 John 1:5). People in the higher spirit realms emanate this light that is God. A ‘Being of Light’ in NDEs can be literally anyone: Jesus, Buddha, the Hindu god of death, an angel, or even a deceased loved one for example. It usually depends on the person’s religious and cultural background. NDEs reveal that God’s light is manifested within everything in the spirit realm.” (Kevin Williams)
Dr. Raymond Moody says this about the Being of Light: “Of all the possible near-death elements, the light exerted the greatest influence on the individual. Patients interpreted the light as a Being – a Being that radiated love and warmth. Christians recognized the light as Christ. Atheists identified the spirit only as a guide.” (Dr. Raymond Moody)
Guenter Wagner’s NDE is like many others in that he experienced the Being of Light (whom he identified as Jesus), the Void, and a very interesting life review. Wagner stated, “This Being of Light loved me deeply, infinitely deeply, and more and more intensively. I was happy! I could have stayed in this beam of love forever.” (Guenter Wagner)
Val saw the Being of Light as Christ-like: Val saw a tall, radiant figure within the light – serene and Christ-like – standing in a doorway as if awaiting her. As she moved closer, she was overwhelmed with profound peace, joy, and love. (Val)
David Oakford met Jesus as the Being of Light: “I met with a really awesome light being who I understood to be Jesus. He took me into him and all I remember him saying was: ‘Tell them to love one another.'” (David Oakford)
Howard Storm experienced the Being of Light as Jesus: “After what I had been through, to be completely known, accepted, and intensely loved by this Being of Light (Jesus) surpassed anything I had known or could have imagined. I began to cry and the tears kept coming and coming. And we, I and this light, went up and out of there.” (Howard Storm)
Patrick L. was aware of a Being of Light to be Jesus: Patrick perceived figures within a radiant, otherworldly light – unlike any earthly illumination. He later recognized them as his future daughter and son in a pre-birth, soul-like state. Among them was another presence, a Being of Light he came to understand as Jesus. (Patrick L.)
After Sandra Rogers attempted suicide, she was given only two choices by the Being of Light (Jesus). One choice involved being revived and living out the rest of her days. This was the choice she chose. The other choice involved remaining in the light with the condition of having to reincarnate at a future time to re-experience everything that led her to commit suicide in the first place. (Sandra Rogers)
The Bible describes an incident where Jesus transfigures into a “Being of Light”: “After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.” (Matthew 17:1-3)
In Acts 26:13-26, the Apostle Paul’s conversion on the road to Damascus describes an encounter with Jesus, an event similar to the encounter with a Being of Light and of being blinded by a brilliant light. Additional Biblical references to “the light” occurs in John 12:35 -36, Isaiah 9:2, Acts 9, and 2 Corinthians 12:1-10.
Skeptical members of the clergy are highly critical of NDEs and view them as a tremendous threat to the Christian faith. They accuse the “Being of Light” to be a sinister lying devil masquerading as an angel of light preaching a different gospel because he’s not interested in theology. Some Christian skeptics believe the Being of Light only mimics the real Jesus of the Bible in order to lead the flock away from the Biblical Jesus and the authority of Church. However, Jesus taught people that “a tree is recognized by its fruit” – a bad tree doesn’t produce good fruit (Matthew 12:24-37). And because the Being of Light yields much “good fruit” of love and joy, the Being of Light cannot be a “bad tree” or satanic. (Kevin Williams)

8. The Being of Light as a Man of Light
Across countless NDEs, the mysterious Being of Light takes many forms – radiant, formless, or androgynous. Yet for some experiencers, this luminous presence manifests in a distinctly masculine form, evoking images of a wise elder, a spiritual guide, or even the divine masculine itself. In these accounts, the Being of Light often appears as a tall, serene man cloaked in radiant energy, emanating peace, authority, and a deeply comforting, fatherly love. Whether interpreted as Jesus, or the Messiah, or simply a man of light, these experiences reveal a personal, gendered embodiment of spiritual power.
Julia M. describes the Being of Light as a male, fatherly figure: Julia witnessed a radiant figure slowly emerging from the light – a tall, serene Being clothed in light itself. This presence, distinctly male in form and composed entirely of light, evoked no fear but instead radiated a comforting, fatherly safety reminiscent of her own earthly father. (Julia M.)
Michaele S. describes the Being of Light as masculine: Michaele encountered a radiant, masculine Being of Light with a faint outline of a body and face. Though lacking clear features, it radiated profound beauty. Through telepathic communication, Michaele understood she had the choice to either return to life or move on beyond. (Michaele S.)
Jennifer T. describes the Being of Light as androgynous: Jennifer gazed at the faceless Being of Light and felt a deep sense of calm and peace. The presence radiated both masculine strength and feminine tenderness, offering a protective, soothing comfort through its luminous glow. (Jennifer T.)
Heron S. also describes an androgynous Being of Light: Heron encountered a radiant, human-shaped Being of Light whose luminous presence pulsed like a flowing, liquid energy. Immersed in its nourishing warmth, Heron perceived the figure as strong and comforting – qualities reminiscent of masculine energy, though not exclusively so. The Being had no clear gender, yet radiated a powerful, serene essence. (Heron S.)
Nadia McCaffrey saw the Being of Light as a Lady of Light: “While in the coma, I was oblivious to the reality around me, but I was oddly aware that I had left this dimension. It was then that I saw a beautiful Being of Light: the Lady of Light, hovering above in the room.” (Nadia McCaffrey)
Julia M. saw the Being of Light as a mature man: Julia encountered a radiant Being of Light, surrounded by a brilliant white aura. Despite its intense luminosity, she recognized it as a calm, mature man – serene and peaceful – whom she understood to be the spiritual master of her universe. (Julia M.)
Betty Eadie described the Being of Light as the figure of a man (Jesus): “I saw a pinpoint of light in the distance. The black mass around me began to take on more of the shape of a tunnel, and I felt myself traveling through it at an even greater speed, rushing toward the light… As I approached it, I noticed the figure of a man standing in it, with the light radiating all around him.” (Betty Eadie)
The Being of Light appeared to Marilyn Gibson as a man in a robe: “A glowing golden tunnel appeared in front of me. Far, far into the tunnel, almost as if at its distant opening, stood a man dressed in a splendid golden robe… I wanted to fly to him. I knew that this was possible; it was simply a matter of making the decision.” (Marilyn Gibson)
Beverly Brodsky experienced a radiant being as the Jewish Messiah: “I found myself floating on the ceiling over the bed looking down at my unconscious body. I barely had time to realize the glorious strangeness of the situation that I was me but not in my body – when I was joined by a radiant being bathed in a shimmering white glow… Such love and gentleness emanated from his Being that I felt that I was in the presence of the Messiah.” (Beverly Brodsky)
9. The Being of Light as an Angel
In numerous NDEs, the Being of Light is perceived not only as a radiant presence of overwhelming love and wisdom, but often as an angelic figure. These encounters span across cultures and belief systems, yet share striking similarities that suggest a deeply archetypal presence – an angel of God cloaked in luminous brilliance. Many NDEs reveal a recurring pattern: these Beings radiate unconditional love, profound peace, and intimate knowledge of the soul. Whether perceived as male or female, with or without wings, appearing with a defined face or only as radiant light, the essence remains the same – an angelic presence tasked with guidance, protection, and often revelation.
Dr. Raymond Moody states that references to angels in NDEs are found in several studies of the subject. Angels were referred to as ‘Beings of Light’ by some NDErs in Dr. Raymond Moody‘s book ‘Life After Life‘ (1975). In fact, Moody described the Being of Light as one of 15 elements in the NDE. (Dr. Raymond Moody)
Francis McG. encountered an angelic Being of Light who identified as “the light”: Francis encountered a radiant Being of Light with an angelic presence. When asked if it was God, the Being replied, “No, follow me.” Bathed in love and kindness, he asked if the Being was Jesus, Buddha, or Mohammed. The Being answered, “I am the light.” (Francis McG.)
Katrina believes the Being of Light to be an angel. She described encountering a Being of Light that appeared pure white and stood approximately eight to nine feet tall. In the presence of this radiant figure, Katrina experienced a profound sense of peace and love. She believed that this luminous presence was an angel. (Katrina)
An angel revealed itself to Laurie L. as a Being of Light: “One of the three angels revealed himself as a Being of Light that had known my soul since I was created and would continue to be with me for eternity.” (Laurie L.)
Jamie N. described the Being of Light as a male angel: Jamie recalled meeting a radiant, male angelic Being of Light who calmly assured him that he would survive the crisis and go on to live a long, pleasant life. (Jamie N.)
Renate experienced the Being of Light as a kind of angel: Renate encountered a radiant Being of Light, likely angelic, standing at the end of a tunnel. With a defined, beautiful face and a robe of shimmering white light, the Being radiated love, kindness, wisdom, and an all-powerful presence. Renate felt deep awe and a joyful recognition, as if reunited with someone who had known her forever. (Renate)
During Natacha P.’s NDE, she saw the Being of Light transform into an angelic being: Natacha sensed a Being of Light and asked, “Are you my guardian angel?” To her amazement, the Being transformed into a radiant, indescribably beautiful angel, its wings lifted skyward and gaze filled with pure love, embodying divine perfection. (Natacha P.)
The Being of Light revealed itself to be Linda B.’s guardian angel – a divine messenger who had always been by her side, offering love, guidance, and support, serving as a link between her and God. (Linda B.)
Jennifer B. saw the Being of Light to be the Archangel Michael: Jennifer saw a massive, radiant Being of Light speeding toward her and instantly recognized it as Archangel Michael. His powerful energy pulled her out of both her body and the car. (Jennifer B.)
Linda G. saw angelic beings as souls: “I also saw souls who I would called Angels or higher beings they were helping Earthlings with many problems even medical discoveries.” (Linda G.)

10. The Being of Light and the Life Review
This section explores multiple accounts of NDE life reviews guided by the Being of Light, revealing a recurring spiritual truth across diverse individuals and backgrounds: that what matters most in life is not status, achievement, or material success – but how deeply and authentically we love.
The Being of Light told Dannion Brinkley that it’s the little acts of kindness that counts the most in your life review: “Humans are powerful spiritual beings meant to create good on the earth. This good isn’t usually accomplished in bold actions, but in singular acts of kindness between people. It’s the little things that count, because they are more spontaneous and show who you truly are.'” (Dannion Brinkley)
The Being of Light also told Reinee Pasarow that it’s the little acts of kindness that counts the most in your life review: Reinee Pasarow described an encounter with a “Being of Light” who showed her various elements of her past life and reviewed them with her. She learned that little acts of kindness were far and away more important than the activities we usually give so much value to in normal life. (Reinee Pasarow)
Dr. Raymond Moody said the following about the Being of Light and the life review: “The Being of Light presents the dying with as panoramic review of everything they have ever done. That is, they relive every act they have ever done to other people and come away feeling that love is the most important thing in life.” (Dr. Raymond Moody)
After his life review during his NDE, Hal felt there is something missing. Because of this, the Being of Light took him to a heavenly library where he was allowed to learn more about his life. Because the Being of Light did not want to interfere with Hal’s free will, he was not allowed to see all of it. (Hal)
During Lynnclaire Dennis’ NDE life review, a Being of Light she refers to as “The Presence” revealed to her a special mission she was to perform: “The last person to walk on the stage of my life was a man unknown to me… Although I was certain this was not someone I knew, I could feel him at the depths of my soul. He began to speak, communicating directly to my heart. The message he shared that day was engraved on both my mind and my soul: ‘Lynnclaire, you will be a catalyst for change, for love. You will bring forth, hold, and honor remembrance. You will bring to conscious awareness the realms, realities, and remnants in order that the spirit may remember the dance.'” (Lynnclaire Dennis)
Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) was a renowned Swedish scientist and Christian mystic whose spiritual visions led to experiences which have remarkable similarities to the NDE. So remarkable are these similarities, that in Dr. Raymond Moody‘s ground-breaking book on NDEs, Life After Life, he devotes an entire section of his book to describe these similarities. Dr. Moody revealed that Swedenborg described death as a pulling away from the physical body, followed by encounters with departed ones and a life review drawn from the person’s memory. Most notably, is his description of encountering a supreme Being of Light which Swedenborg described as “the Sun of heaven in which the Lord resided.” (Emanuel Swedenborg)
The Being of Light told Lisa M. during her life review that her mission is to learn and practice love: Lisa encountered a radiant male Being of Light who radiated unearthly, unconditional love. The Being revealed her entire life in a single, instantaneous vision and gently reminded her of her true purpose: to grow in love and compassion, to express these qualities on Earth, and to help others however she could. (Lisa M.)
Vicki W. met humanoid Beings of Light: Vicki was guided by one or more Beings of Light through a transcendent realm. These radiant, human-shaped figures were sometimes visible, sometimes only heard, but always present. The Beings led her through a life review, a healing temple, a spiritual university, a meeting with God, and more. (Vicki W.)
During her life review, Carry felt the Being of Light as having infinite love. Carry encountered a Being of Light who told her, “Carry, I love you just the way you are.” In that instant, she felt entirely cherished – yet also understood that this infinite love embraced all beings equally. The Being knew every part of her life without judgment, and offering perfect acceptance and unconditional love. (Carry)
Tasha L. experienced the following about the Beings of Light of love during her life review: Tasha was completely enveloped in a radiant, vivid white light – brighter than anything imaginable. From it emanated profound sensations: bliss, joy, euphoria, happiness, and above all, a deep sense of unconditional love and acceptance. (Tasha L.)
Niels W. had a life review where the Being of Light revealed information concerning reincarnation. When Niels posed an unexpected question to the Being present with him. Niels asked if he could plan his next reincarnation. The Being appeared surprised by the inquiry and responded that typically, individuals wait until their actual death before choosing their reincarnation. (Niels W.)

11. The Being of Light and Oneness
Many experiencers view the Being of Light as a presence described not only as loving and intelligent but as the very embodiment of unity and oneness. They report a transformative merging with this Light, wherein the boundaries of self dissolve into an overwhelming sense of interconnectedness with all that exists. Rather than losing their identity, experiencers often describe a paradoxical state of merging with the Light while retaining a deep awareness of their true self – now recognized as part of something infinitely greater. This sense of oneness – experienced as infinite love, profound peace, and universal connection – reshapes how survivors view life, death, and the nature of existence itself. Their accounts serve not only as testimony to what may lie beyond, but as a reminder of the unity that underlies all life here and now.
Barbara S. felt she merged with the Being of Light: Barbara described an encounter with a Being of Light in whom she felt complete trust and love. Barbara was shown the purpose of her life on Earth and what her existence was truly about. She felt as though she had merged with the light, becoming one with it while still retaining her own sense of individuality. (Barbara S.)
Raymond Kinman was absorbed inside the Being of Light: Raymond was greeted by a radiant Being of Light and Love, not as a person but as an all-encompassing glow. In its presence, he felt a love so vast it defied words. His entire essence transformed into pure love, magnified beyond comprehension and diffused throughout the universe. (Raymond Kinman)
Josef P. became a part of the Being of Light: Upon reaching the brilliant light, Josef was instantly enveloped by it, becoming one with its radiance. He felt an overwhelming, unparalleled love and became aware of a Being that seemed inseparable from the light itself. (Josef P.)
Mira S. experienced the Light Presence of love in and around herself: Mira was completely enveloped by a radiant Presence of pure, unconditional Love that stretched infinitely in all directions. There was no separation between this Light and her own being, and she realized it was the conscious, loving essence underlying all existence. (Mira S.)
Dr. Joyce Hawkes became one with the Being of Light: Joyce suddenly found herself before a radiant Being of Light, whose face was unseen yet communicated through a deep, wordless connection of oneness. The encounter transcended normal perception, flooding her with amplified emotions—overwhelming joy, peace, awe, and belonging. Though no life review occurred, she felt completely known and unconditionally accepted. Most of all, she was enveloped in profound, unconditional love. (Dr. Joyce Hawkes)
Mark W. became one with the Being of Light: When Mark stood before the great Being of Light, he was overwhelmed by an undeniable sense of oneness. He realized that separative ambition only creates division, while the unity connecting all life is a fundamental truth, not just an ideal. (Mark W.)
Donna W. was enveloped by the Being of Light and melded with its light: As Donna ascended to a higher realm, she encountered a radiant Being of pure white light, featureless yet gentle to behold. Merging with the Being, now without form herself, she felt completely enveloped in an overwhelming exchange of profound, unconditional love. (Donna W.)
Martin W. felt that everything in the light of the afterlife is one: Martin encountered a radiant Being of Light who welcomed him with a broad smile and open arms, like reuniting with a beloved friend. Infused with energy and strength, Martin felt a euphoric sense of freedom, boundless love, and profound joy. In the light’s presence, he became deeply aware of the unity and interconnectedness of all things. (Martin W.)
John B. became part of the Being of Light: “I am being drawn into this Light Being, as if I am to become a part of it.” (John B.)
Chantal L. realized she was part of a collective consciousness with other Beings of Light: Chantal no longer experienced a sense of being a separate self. Instead, there was a profound awareness of being part of a vast collective consciousness. It felt as though billions upon billions of beings were interconnected, united as a single whole. The sense of oneness in that other realm was described as astonishing and deeply moving. (Chantal L.)
Mark W. merged wholly with the Being of Light: Mark’s usual, limited consciousness expanded and became fully integrated with the Being of Light. For a brief time, Mark’s personal identity faded away, and he experienced a complete oneness with this presence. The Being itself radiated an immense and distinctly unique individuality. (Mark W.)
Margarita C. says the following: “The Being that is part of this light, is like an entity… But this light thinks ALL, it is ALL.” (Margarita C.)
12. The Being of Light and the Future
Encounters with the Being of Light during NDEs often include profound revelations – not only about love, life purpose, and the nature of existence – but also about the future of humanity.
In 1975, the Being of Light told Dannion Brinkley the following: “Watch the Soviet Union. How the Russian people go, so goes the world. What happens to Russia is the basis for everything that will happen to the economy of the free world.” The collapse of the Soviet Union occurred in 1989 due to economic problems. (Dannion Brinkley)
During his NDE, Dannion Brinkley was led to a heavenly cathedral by a Being of Light. There he met twelve more Beings of Light representing the zodiac. (Dannion Brinkley)
During his NDE, Lou Famoso was shown a future war in the U.S. resulting in hundreds of thousands dead and dying. Famoso could feel the suffering of those involved. Famoso asked the Being of Light why this was, and how long this was to go on, and the Being said, “Man will prey on man, until man will pray for man.” (Lou Famoso)
During Dr. George Ritchie’s NDE in 1943, the Being of Light led him through an unusual sphere-shaped building on Earth where a catwalk led over a tank filled with water. In 1952, nine years after his NDE, Dr. Ritchie was looking through a December issue of Life magazine and came across an artist’s drawing of a sphere-shaped building with a catwalk and tank that was being built in Schenectady, New York, to hold a naval nuclear submarine engine under development. Dr. Ritchie had ‘walked’ through this building and over the catwalk nine years earlier during his NDE. Dr. George Ritchie’s NDE was the inspiration for Dr. Raymond Moody to begin his NDE study published in his groundbreaking book, “Life After Life.” (Dr. George Ritchie)

13. The Nature of the Being of Light
While NDEs differ from person to person, a central theme runs through them all: the Being of Light acts as a guide, teacher, and revealer of spiritual truths that transcend earthly understanding. What emerges is a multifaceted portrait of a Being that defies easy definition. Sometimes shaped like a person, sometimes just a point of brilliant energy, the Being of Light adapts to the soul before it, responding to the unique spiritual needs and cultural understandings of each individual. This section explores the profound revelations that NDEs bring about the true nature of this radiant presence.
William E. describes the Being of Light as being too bright to look at: William encountered a Being of Light so radiant that its brilliance was impossible to gaze upon directly. Though he attempted to look, the intensity was overwhelming. The Being conveyed a message of purpose and reassurance, instructing him to return and continue learning, promising that they would be reunited one day. (William E.)
Alan McDougall describes the Being of Light as a pure point of light: Alan’s sense of self, transformed into what he could only describe as pure, undiluted thought. He encountered a Being of Light, not taking on any human shape but existing as a concentrated point of radiance. (Alan McDougall)
Cecil learned from the Being of Light that Satan doesn’t exist: Cecil is an 11 year-old who asked the Being of Light the following during his NDE: “I asked if there was a Devil or Satan? He said to me, ‘Would God allow that?’ He continued, ‘If I made you God for just a few seconds, what would you do first?’ I knew my first act would be to eliminate any Devil or Satan.” (Cecil)
Kevin Williams explains the Being of Light’s role in the Void: “Escaping from the darkness or the Void is very easy for some souls and difficult for others. Various near-death accounts provide a wealth of information on how to escape from the Void. Here is a list of them: (1) love, (2) light, (3) faith, (4) Beings of Light, (5) reincarnation, all sets you free from the Void.” (Kevin Williams)
Linda G. learned from her experience with the Being of Light about reincarnation: Linda encountered a familiar Being of Light who greeted her as a soul and became her guide through an otherworldly realm. Together, they visited rooms where other souls were engaged in learning and preparing for their return to Earth or another journey beyond. (Linda G.)
The Being of Light explained to Sue Ann the problem of free will and suffering: Sue Ann telepathically communicated with the Beings of Light, instinctively asking soul-level questions about her life’s hardships. One Being explained that all her experiences stemmed from choices she had made and assured her that one day she would rejoice in them – though her time had not yet come. (Sue Ann)
The Being of Light took G. Bryan B. to a heavenly library: A Being of Light communicated with Bryan through telepathy. The Being asked if Bryan would be willing to offer some assistance. Even before Bryan had fully formed the thought of agreement, they were instantly transported together to a vast, formless library beyond the constraints of physical dimensions. (G. Bryan B.)
P.M.H. Atwater states that instead of a Being of Light, some people are greeted by an animal: “Instead of a Being of Light, some people are initially greeted by an animal(s) during their NDE. Most often it is a beloved pet. But there are many non-pets that are initial greeters, such as horses, lions, or even chickens. These animals come as guides or to deliver a message. (P.M.H. Atwater)
14. Conclusion
Across the vast and diverse tapestry of NDEs, one radiant thread weaves through them all: the encounter with a Being of Light. Whether interpreted as God, Jesus, Buddha, an angel, one’s Higher Self, or simply “the Light,” this luminous presence consistently transcends religious, cultural, and personal boundaries. It appears in the form most meaningful to the individual, radiating unconditional love, infinite wisdom, profound peace, and a deep sense of unity. From life reviews filled with compassion to revelations of universal knowledge and glimpses of the future, the Being of Light serves not only as a guide through the threshold of death but as a mirror reflecting the soul’s truest essence.
This Being adapts not to deceive, but to comfort, teach, and awaken. Its fluid identity – transforming from a man of light to an orb of knowledge, from a deity to a reflection of the Higher Self – reveals a presence not confined by doctrine, but intimately attuned to the needs of the seeker. It is a universal archetype, a cosmic teacher, and for many, the very embodiment of divine love. In every form and function, the Being of Light ultimately points to one transcendent truth: that at the heart of existence is a boundless love, a luminous unity that connects all life – and it is this light, within and around us, that we return to when we pass from this world.
As the experiences of countless NDErs affirm, the Being of Light is not merely a symbol of the afterlife, but a living presence that invites us to live more fully, love more deeply, and remember who we truly are: eternal beings of light, temporarily clothed in form, destined to awaken to our divine origin.
